How does it work?
There are many important steps involved during the Diamond in a Box process. These include:
01. Planning a budget
It is important to know what you are comfortable spending, so that you can determine what factors of the diamond are most important to you when choosing one. Our Diamond Experts will help with planning the budget for the completed ring, so that we can determine the budget for the Diamond.
02. Booking a consultation
A diamond is an emotionally charged gift, often of significant value.
Our Diamond Experts can help guide you through the different characteristics of the Diamond, and outline the importance of each one. After all, you want to be confident in what you are purchasing to ensure it is perfect for your loved one.
You can meet with us via an appointment either at Diamond Centre Wales, or via video conferencing based on your preference.
During the meeting, you will understand the key elements for consideration when purchasing a diamond, how to determine your budget for the completed ring and how the service will work from when you purchase the diamond through to the creation of the final ring.
03. Choosing your diamond
During your consultation, you will be presented with an array of diamonds to choose from. The following factors are important to consider when selecting your Diamond:
Diamond Shape
Each Diamond shape has its own unique characteristics and appeal. The most common diamond shape is the Brilliant Round Diamond due to its ability to produce maximum sparkle and brilliance.
However, there are many other popular shapes you can choose from: Princess, Oval, Marquise, Emerald and Radiant are all stunningly popular choices.
If you should choose the wrong shape, then don't worry, you can exchange your diamond for another diamond of equal value.
This is the criteria most people are aware of — Size.
Diamonds are measured in a mass unit of ‘carat’ which takes into account the weight of the stone.
The size of a Diamond often tends to be high on the shopping criteria of many customers. Bigger is better right? Well, only if size is your main priority when purchasing a Diamond.
Depending on your budget, you may have to compromise carat weight in order to prioritise one of the other Four C’s.
Our ‘Size Scale’ above illustrates a variety of sizes, and the relative diameters of each one.
Diamond Quality (Cut, Clarity & Colour)
To help understand the characteristics of a Diamond, there are the following factors to consider:
Cut: The cut of a Diamond will ultimately give you the most sparkle. Cut refers to the ability to reflect and refract light back up through the top of the diamond. Cut is comprised on Symmetry, Proportions and Polish of the diamond.
Clarity: Clarity refers to the absence of any internal flaws called inclusions or blemishes on the surface.
Colour: Colour refers to the absence of colour. The less colour within the diamond, the more desirable and valuable it is.
To find out more about these important factors, please see our Diamond Guide here.
04. Presentation & collection of your diamond
After paying for your diamond, it will come in a presentation box, along with a VIP invitation and a pre-booked date to return with your loved one to start the ring design experience.

Diamond Studs
Diamond Stud Earrings
Ingeniously simple yet timelessly elegant, Diamond Studs add graceful glamour for all occasions.
They are a staple item in every woman's collection. Diamond studs are a versatile gift that always creates a special moment.
Setting
Our four-claw setting enables the earring to sit well on the ear lobe, whilst allowing light to enter the Diamond to create that desired sparkle. The four claw also offers a secure setting for the Diamond.
Precious metal
Diamonds are highly reflective to their surroundings, therefore the colour of the metal surrounding them will influence the perceived colour of the stone. All our Diamond Studs are manufactured from ethically sourced 18ct White Gold, to ensure a bright white look.
Diamond quality
As Diamond Merchants for over forty years, you can be rest assured that the Diamonds are carefully selected to produce the sparkle and brilliance that will dazzle your loved one.
When selecting the Diamonds for our stud earrings, we consider three significant factors. These factors are:
01. Cut
When it comes to determining what is the most important aspect when purchasing a diamond, many consumers will look to Colour or Clarity.
Whilst these are generally important characteristics, the Cut of the diamond will ultimately give you the most sparkle.
Cut refers to the diamond’s particular ability to reflect and refract light back up through the top of the diamond, where it emits light through the facet lines in the diamond’s crown.
All of our Diamond stud earrings are of Very Good Cut, to ensure optimum sparkle.
To learn more about the different Cut grades, please see our Diamond Guide here.
02. Colour
Diamond studs should be considered slightly differently in comparison to selecting a diamond for an engagement ring for example, as they will not be viewed as closely.
There are a lot of factors which affect the perceived colour when wearing Diamond studs; your skin, your hair, other earrings, glasses or anything near them. Because of this, choosing a more expensive colourless Diamond is less important, meaning you can add to increasing the carat size of the Diamond instead.
03. Clarity
Clarity refers to the absence of any internal flaws called inclusions or blemishes on the surface.
Like with Colour, we consider Clarity slightly different when choosing Diamonds for our studs. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to detect any inclusions, as they will not be viewed as closely as an engagement ring.
All our Diamond stud earrings come with Butterfly earring backs. These are also known as ‘push-back’ fittings, which are the most common for Diamond stud earrings.
All our Diamond stud earrings also come with a Diamond Centre Wales Valuation, for insurance purposes. This will have a breakdown of the metal, diamond specification and replacement cost.
